district, also known as Odalguri, is a district in\n            the Bodoland Territorial Region of the state of Assam in\n            Northeastern India. Udalguri town is the headquarters of\n            the district.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            The district is known for its rich cultural diversity,\n            natural beauty and agricultural landscape. It is home to\n            people belonging to several ethnic, linguistic and religious\n            communities living together.\n        <\/p>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n\n    <!-- NAME & HISTORY -->\n    <div class=\"udalguri-section\">\n\n        <h3 class=\"udalguri-section-title\">\n            <span>\ud83d\udcd6<\/span>\n            Name &amp; History\n        <\/h3>\n\n        <p>\n            The name <strong>Udalguri<\/strong> denotes a place surrounding\n            the Udal tree, where \u201cUdal\u201d means a tree and \u201cGuri\u201d means\n            surrounding area.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            Some authors are of the opinion that the name of the place\n            became Udalguri as there was a hermitage of a sage named\n            Uddalak Muni.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            Another source mentions that the word has origins in the\n            Boro language. From the Bodo words <em>ordla<\/em> and\n            <em>gundri<\/em>, the name is believed to have evolved as\n            Ordlagundri &gt; Ordlagundi &gt; Odalguri &gt; Ugalguri.\n            Bodo people still pronounce the name as Odalguri.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            In Bodo language, <em>ordla<\/em> means wide and spacious,\n            while <em>gundri<\/em> means powdered object.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            Udalguri district was formed on\n            <strong>14 June 2004<\/strong> as one of the four districts\n            under the Bodoland Territorial Council. The district was\n            carved out by bifurcating Darrang district. The territory\n            of the present district was earlier the Udalguri sub-division\n            of the undivided Darrang district.\n        <\/p>\n\n        <p>\n            The district is multi-ethnic and multi-religious in nature,\n            with Hindu, Christian and Muslim communities living across\n            the district.
