Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025
KVK Udalguri takes science-based farming to the farm gate, reaching over 21,000 farmers
About the Campaign
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a nationwide agricultural outreach campaign, ran from 29 May to 12 June 2025 to coincide with the pre-kharif sowing season. Its aim was to make farmers aware of modern agricultural technologies, improved seed varieties and scientific crop management practices, and so raise the productivity and production of major crops. India’s crop productivity is still below the global average, and the campaign set out to narrow this gap by taking science-based solutions directly to the farm gate.
Implementation in Udalguri
In Udalguri district, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Udalguri led the campaign. Two teams were formed, each made up of KVK scientists, officials from line departments, members of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and progressive farmers. Each team held two meetings a day, giving four meetings daily at the district level. The target was to reach 800 farmers per day.

Focus Areas
The meetings were run as interactive farmer–scientist sessions. Resource persons covered recommended kharif crop varieties, quality seed, integrated nutrient and pest management, and allied activities such as livestock and fisheries.

Achievements
The response was overwhelming. Over 14 campaign days, the teams covered 390 villages and reached 21,512 farmers, against a target of about 11,200. That is roughly 192 per cent of the target, with an average of more than 1,500 farmers per day. Participation rose steadily over the campaign. The highest daily turnout came on 12 June 2025, with 2,375 farmers, and the widest coverage came on 9 June 2025, when 53 villages were reached in a single day.
Participation of Women
Women took part in strong numbers. Of the total participants, 10,883 (50.6%) were men and 10,629 (49.4%) were women. This near-equal participation shows the central role farm women play in Udalguri’s agriculture and allied activities, and it reflects the useful contribution of SHGs in mobilising them.

Way Forward
The campaign also strengthened links between KVK Udalguri, line departments, FPCs and the farming community, giving a solid base for follow-up activities such as demonstrations, trainings and advisory services. By putting the latest technologies and scientific knowledge directly in farmers’ hands at the start of the sowing season, VKSA 2025 in Udalguri served as an important step towards higher productivity, better incomes and the national goal of a Viksit Bharat through a Viksit Krishi.
