A one day Farmers Fair-cum-awareness Programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana (PMFBY) was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Udalguri.
Shri Ramen Deka, Member of Parliament, Mangaldai Constituency inaugurated the programme. In his speech he emphasized on the importance of the Crop Insurance Scheme under PMFBY and encouraged the farmers to avail the advantage which will provide insurance coverage and financial support in time for the loses of crop.

Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat also stressed upon the fact that farmers should be well-informed about various schemes which are meant to provide assistance to the farmers for their benefit. He also requested the farmers to take full benefit of different activities/ technologies of the Assam Agricultural University and KVKs for better cultivation practices.
Dr. B. C. Deka, Director, ATARI Zone-III, ICAR Umiam explain the scheme in detail and urged them to play a more proactive role for ensuring their financial upliftment and insure their crops.

Shri Rihan Daimary, Minister, PHE, Food & Supply & Consumer, Govt. of Assam, in his speech highlighted the various benefits of the scheme.

Meanwhile, Dr. H.C. Bhattacharyya, Director of Extension Education, AAU, Joraht requested the farmers to insure their crops under PMFBY by paying lowest premium for commercial/ horticultural and other crops.

The programme was attended by Shri Charan Boro, MLA (Mazbat LAC), Ms. Sadhana Hojai, Deputy Commissioner (Udalguri), Shri Mitharam Basumatary, Ex. EM (Agri), BTC, Dr. Apurba Chakrabarty, Director of Research (Veterinary Science), AAU, Khanapara, Dr. H.C. Bhattacharrya, Director of Extension Education, AAU, Jorhat District Agricultural Officer (Udalguri and Chirang), DDM-NABARD, Heads of Line departments, representatives of different Insurance Companies, Scientists and Staff of KVK, Udalguri as well as about 530 farmers of the District.

A ceremonial distribution of Soil Health Card among 1000 selected farmers of the district. The day long programme also featured and exhibition of stalls from different institute, NGOs, farmer groups, departments displayed their exhibits
A Farmer-Scientist Interaction was held on the prevailing agricultural schemes and its implementation aspects with a prime focus was on “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana”.

Dr. Debasish Borah, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Udalguri offered vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and farmers for their presence and make the ceremony a grant success.
