‘Quit India Movement’ was an important milestone in the pre independence era. To commemorate the outcome of this movement the Govt. of India has decided to observe 71th independence day as “Sankalp Parv” from 09th August to 29th August, 2017 and urged citizens to take a pledge to create a new India that is strong, prosperous and inclusive. In this regard, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Udalguri, Assam organized the programme on “New India Manthan-Sankalp se Siddhi” on 26th August 2017 at KVK, Udalguri campus, Udalguri.
The programme was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Sri Ramen Deka, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mangaldai Loksabha Consistuency, Assam. Sri Rihon Daimary, Minister of Public Health Eng., Food and Civil Supply & Consumer, GoA,  Mr. Alindra Musahary, EM, Udalguri, Dr. B.C. Deka, Director ATARI-VII, ICAR, Umiam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri, Dr. M. Neog, ADEE (T), AAU, Jorhat, Dr. Debasish Bora, Senior scientist & Head, KVK, Udalguri and others officials from line departments.

In the inaugural address, Sri Ramen Deka highlighted the importance of New India Manthan initiative and appreciated the vision of the Prime Minister for moving towards developed India.

Sri Rihon Daimary requested the rural youth to take up self dependent through agril and allied sector.  He also appreciated the efforts of KVK for organizing important events for the betterment of farming community. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. B. C. Deka, Director, ATARI Zone-III, ICAR Umiam explain the initiative taken by the Prime Minister in detail and urged them to play a more proactive role for ensuring their financial upliftment and insure their crops thereby doubling farmers income by 2022.

A ceremonial distribution of Soil Health Card and video film showed for the benefit of farmers. The programme also featured exhibition stall and live demonstration.

Dr. Debasish Borah, Sr. Scientist and Head, Udalguri offered vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and farmers for their presence and make the ceremony a grant success and ensured to full the vision of doubling farmers income.
