Awareness on balanced use of fertilisers for healthy soil and sustainable farming
About the Campaign
Khet Bachao Abhiyan, meaning “Save the Farm Campaign”, was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Udalguri from 1 June to 30 June 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among farmers and rural communities on the judicious and balanced use of fertilisers for maintaining soil health, reducing unnecessary input costs and promoting sustainable agricultural production.

Villages Covered
As part of the campaign, a series of awareness programmes on the balanced use of fertilisers were organised in different villages of Udalguri district. The programmes covered 23 villages/locations, namely:

- Dewrigaon
- Rowta
- Sapmari

Participation
A total of 1,156 participants attended the programmes, comprising 339 male farmers, 260 rural youth and 557 farm women. The active participation of farm women and rural youth was particularly encouraging and reflected the growing interest of different sections of the farming community in scientific nutrient management practices.
Key Messages and Response
The programmes provided an opportunity to sensitise farmers on the importance of balanced fertiliser application, appropriate nutrient management and avoiding indiscriminate use of chemical fertilisers.
Impact
The enthusiastic participation and positive response from the farming community demonstrated the successful outreach and impact of Khet Bachao Abhiyan, and the campaign contributed towards strengthening awareness on soil health, balanced nutrient management and sustainable farming practices in the district.
